Coconut Oil & Its Health Benefits

Researchers have declared that Coconut Oil is one of the healthiest foods found on the planet with a wide array of health benefits, hair and skin uses. Besides, the main purpose of Coconut Oil being popular is due to the presence of healthy fats called medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) that contain Caprylic acid, Lauric acid, and Capric acid. Similarly, the key advantage of these fats i.e. MCFAs in coconut is that it provides the perfect source of energy and takes a shorter time to digest as compared to other fats. It is predicted that MCFAs only go through 3 step process but other fats go through 26 step process to consume and digest foods. So it has lots of advantages:

It is extracted from fresh coconut using a wet-milled fermentation process that protects the beneficial properties of the coconut and has the highest antioxidant levels. Similarly, this process uses heat but it does not harm the oil or reduce nutrient levels and maintain higher quality oil.

  • “Extra Virgin” Oil:

A study had shown that Cold Extracted Virgin Coconut Oil (CEVCO) actually lower LDL cholesterol while Hot Extracted Virgin Coconut Oil (HEVCO) raises the HDL cholesterol. Similarly, this study in 2013, confirmed that virgin coconut oil produced with heat produced the highest amounts of antioxidants.

  • Refined Coconut Oils:

Refined Coconut Oil is often tasteless and has no coconut smell. Even more, these do not have the benefits of unrefined.

  • Fractionated Oil or MCT Oil:

It is liquid oil that does not get solid below 76 degrees as like unrefined oil. But it is very useful for the brain-boosting purpose.
