Benefits of Avocado Oil for Skin, health & hair

It recently came to my knowledge that many people are still unaware  about the benefits  of Avocado Oil. Firstly, what we commonly refer to as avocado, is fruit of the avocado tree called the ‘Persea Americana’. This fruit is high in its nutrient value and can be added to all sorts of dishes due to its good flavor and rich texture. Well, I have some excellent health, hair & skin tips that you can use.

Talking about avocado oil, it comes in refined & unrefined types, and both types are suitable for skin care. The unrefined type has a dark yellow color & nutty smell, while the refined one is odorless & pale yellow.

The fact that avocado oil can also be used for cooking was firstly reported by Bernabé Cobo who visited America in 1596.

Avocado oil is wonderful for your skin. Avocado oil is the only oil you should use, if you wish to have beautiful and smooth skin. It is the only oil that gets absorbed by the second layer of your skin. It contains nutrients like vitamin C, E, K  B-6, niacin, folate, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, etc. It has amazing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, nourishing & healing properties.

The following are the benefits of avocado for your skin, health and hair:

Skin Benefits

You all must have tried many types of natural products on your skin to get your skin smooth, but using avocado oil is something else. Regular use of avocado oil helps to penetrate your skin much faster than any other type of product or oil. Despite its heavy feel, it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling. As avocado oil is rich in nutrients like Vitamin C, E and K, it contributes in opening the blocked pores of your skin and leave your skin incredibly smooth.

Avocado oil also heals dry and sunburnt skin. Vitamin E contained in avocado oil fights with UVA rays which automatically is beneficial for sunburnt skin and the heavy dose of moisture elements in avocado oil makes your skin free from annoying dryness. It also helps to prevent acne, but you have to use it in a smaller amounts. Some people may have an allergy if this oil doesn’t suit their skin. So, before using it on your face, I recommend you to do a patch test extensively to see if you are allergic to it. In addition, to prevent this oil from going rancid, store it in the fridge.

Here are the technique of using avocado in your skin:

  • To moisture the skin :

Melt 1/2 cup of Shea butter & 1/4 cup of avocado oil. Once melted, place the melted oils in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to cool off. Use it as your regular moisturizer.

  •  To heal the damaged skin :

You can either use it directly on the affected areas or mix 1/2 teaspoon of avocado oil in 2 tablespoon of  aloevera gel before applying.

  • To prevent premature Aging :

In 1 tablespoon avocado oil, add 1 tablespoon pomegranate seed oil, 1 tablespoon of argan oil and 1 tablespoon of  watermelon seed oil. Put the mixture of all these oils in a amber dropper bottle, close the cap & shake gently then apply this before you go to bed.

Avocado is the perfect oil for regrowing & increasing the range of your hair. The reason behind this is due to the monounsaturated fatty acid contained in the avocado oil. Many peoples’ hair is poorly damaged due to the pollution, poor nutrients and the different chemicals found in soaps, shampoos and conditioners. Monounsaturated fat, when applied to your hair gets your hair moisturized, strengthens and protects your hair from further damage. For people with hair loss problems, massaging your hair with avocado increases the blood flow and circulation to the skull, therefore, more nutrients from avocado oil can reach the follicles to stimulate more hair growth and give you healthier hair. The phytosterols & vitamin E are contained with the avocado oil that repairs the hair quickly.
